However, up until now, there has not been a single study that proves GMO foods have helped to “feed the world” in any way.

On the contrary, one of the million-dollar experiments, the highly-hyped GMO Golden Rice, does the exact opposite. Instead of increasing crop production, these mutant plants have shown significant abnormalities in their growth, as well as reduced rice yield in field trials, a new study reported.

For the highly controversial project with the aim to develop a rice variety that contains high levels of vitamin A, this new finding is a serious obstacle. GMO proponents have long hoped to bring Golden Rice to the market to enrich the diet of poor farmers in rural areas with much-needed vitamin A. Vitamin A deficiencies heighten the risk of infections and blindness, among other diseases.

In the past, environmental groups such as Greenpeace have been blamed by GMO proponents for slowing the introduction of Golden Rice to the market. Are these scientists looking for a real solution or is this just a smart PR campaign? The latter might be closer to the truth. Just as any other GMO crop, Golden Rice fails miserably on all levels.

A failed attempt to breed a rice variety that produces vitamin A and addresses world hunger

After more than 20 years of research, the controversial GMO crop with the potential to save the third world from vitamin A deficiencies, blindness, and starvation fails to address its promises and is nowhere near being released onto the market, since the researchers now stumbled on yet another bump in the road.

Researchers believe the introduction of the new gene has caused widespread genomic instability that interferes with the production of the plant’s growth hormone, resulting in weak, stunted plants and poor rice production. One might think that after 20 years of unsuccessful attempts to bring this crop to the market, researchers would give up and look for a real solution to address the issues. But somehow, they keep pushing for the release of Golden Rice to solve the problem. (RELATED: Find more news on the lunacy of failed genetic engineering projects at GeneticLunacy.com.)

The truth is big AG corporations could not care less about blindness, vitamin A levels, and starvation. A much darker truth lies behind this crop and the reason why GMO supporters have been pushing for the release of Golden Rice for commercial use. Golden Rice has been called the Trojan Horse of biotechnology corporations by anti-GMO activists because the industry hopes it will pave the way for the global approval of other, more profitable and commercially attractive GMO crops, reported the University of Washington.

It is time for the world to wake up and find a real solution to our nutrition issues. GMO crops such as Golden Rice are not an answer to the problem. Think of how glyphosate-resistant crops were going to reduce pesticide use. Today, however, we face massive resistance issues and have never used as many cancer-causing chemicals on our fields, which inevitably end up on our plates.

As stated by Natural Blaze, GMO crops, such as Golden Rice, are only making things worse while producing good PR and billion-dollar profits. Is the Golden Rice hype bubble finally going to burst? (RELATED: Learn more about the damaging effects of pesticides at Pesticides.news.)

North Korea could kill 90% of all Americans by dropping EMP nukes from orbiting satellites /starvationnews/2017-03-31-north-korea-could-kill-90-of-all-americans-by-dropping-emp-nukes-from-orbiting-satellites.html Fri, 31 Mar 2017 15:46:29 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2017-03-31-north-korea-could-kill-90-of-all-americans-by-dropping-emp-nukes-from-orbiting-satellites.html North Korea’s Kim Jong-un could easily wipe out 90 percent of the American population, two U.S. intelligence experts warned.

In a joint article, former CIA director Robert James Woolsey Jr and US Congressional EMP Task Force director Dr. Peter Vincent Pry refuted the mainstream media’s allegations that North Korea may not be able deliver on its repeated threats to launch a nuclear strike against the U.S. “False reassurance is given to the American people that North Korea has not ‘demonstrated’ that it can miniaturise a nuclear warhead small enough for missile delivery, or build a reentry vehicle for an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of penetrating the atmosphere to blast a US city,” Woolsey and Pry stated.

The two experts noted that technological dilemmas such as warhead miniaturization and reentry vehicle design would be simple enough matters to address for countries that have already developed nuclear weapons and long-range missiles like North Korea. In a photograph that circulated last year, the North Korean dictator can be seen inspecting an alleged nuclear warhead that was purportedly small enough to be mounted on ballistic missiles.

The experts have also confirmed that North Korea indeed has two classes of intercontinental ballistic missile — the road mobile KN-08 and KN-14 — both of which seemed to be equipped with cutting-edge reentry vehicles. The experts also warned that North Korea could still land a huge blow in the U.S. defense even if their alleged nuclear weapons are yet to materialize.

According to Woolsey and Pry, the country could easily deliver an atomic bomb concealed in a freighter going to the U.S., or hire terrorists to launch a nuclear suicide mission across the unguarded Mexican border, which may affect densely-populated port cities and areas closest to the border. The experts said detonating a Hiroshima-type A-bomb with a yield of 10-kilotons would result in about 200,000 casualties. The experts confirmed that North Korea has tested a nuclear weapon with estimated yields of 20 to 30 kilotons. According to the Defense Department, the country may have tested H-Bomb components in January last year. H-bombs are more powerful than A-bombs and may result in much larger casualties.

Disturbing details on North Korea’s alleged nukes

CIA’s top East Asia analyst publicly announced in 2008 that North Korea was successful in developing miniaturized nuclear warheads to be deployed on its Nodong medium-range missile. According to the analyst, the missile was able to strike Japan and South Korea, and may even reach the U.S. it delivered through a freighter.

In 2011, Lt. General Ronald Burgess, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, testified that North Korea has already weaponized its nuclear devices into warheads. Burgess made his testimonies before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

In early 2015, former senior national security officials cautioned that North Korea might have the capacity to use satellites to launch a small nuclear warhead specifically developed to make a high-altitude electromagnetic pulse attack against the U.S. The  Congressional EMP Commission warned that such an attack could potentially blackout the national electric grid and other infrastructures essential for sustaining life. This may result in subsequent societal collapse and starvation, which in turn may kill nine out of 10 Americans.

Two North Korean satellites — KMS-3 and KMS-4 — currently orbit over the U.S. These satellites’ trajectories appear consistent with surprise EMP attack, Woolsey and Pry said.

During a Pentagon press conference in April 2015, former North American Aerospace Defense commander Adm. William Gortney warned that North Korea’s KN-08 mobile ICBM also has the capacity to launch a nuclear warhead against the U.S. Gortney repeated this warning in October 2015 during an Atlantic Council event. “I agree with the intelligence community that we assess that they [North Koreans] have the ability, they have the weapons, and they have the ability to miniaturize those weapons, and they have the ability to put them on a rocket that can range the [U.S.] homeland,” Gortney said.

Banned video reveals the horrors of Venezuela’s starving population /starvationnews/2017-03-29-banned-video-reveals-the-horrors-of-venezuelas-starving-population.html Thu, 30 Mar 2017 03:02:18 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2017-03-29-banned-video-reveals-the-horrors-of-venezuelas-starving-population.html Once thought to be a promising and upcoming socialist utopia, Venezuela is now caught in a death spiral towards famine, starvation and poverty, all of which are directly linked to the corruption of a centralized authoritative regime. The conditions in Venezuela are so bad, in fact, that the government must set up barriers and restrictions for the news media so that the socialist country’s reputation isn’t damaged any further.

In February of this year, for example, CNN was kicked out of Venezuela for reporting on the poor conditions inside Caracas Public High School. “CNN, do not get into the affairs of Venezuela. I want CNN well away from here,” demanded President Maduro. “Outside of Venezuela. Do not put your nose in Venezuela.”

However, despite this resentment towards the news media, ABC Australia journalist Eric Campbell was recently able to capture undercover footage of the horrific conditions inside of Venezuela. The video shows a country replete with starving Venezuelans lining up in the streets for food, people digging through the trash to find a small bite to eat, and also violent thugs and gangs that are quickly climbing the nation’s social ladder.

“They’re here from 3 a.m. to buy two packets of flour,” one man explained in the video. “That’s the only product in the store, there’s nothing more.” Interestingly, when asked by Eric Campbell who was to blame for the hunger and the corruption, the man replied, “Well the government is to blame, because the government holds the people’s money.” (RELATED: You won’t believe what Venezuelans are resorting to eating in order to survive.)

Another Venezuelan said of the empty food shelves, “They’re fine in the government, they can eat and all that stuff while people queue from three in the morning.” The young woman, who eventually identifies herself as a mother, explains how she has to get in line at two or three in the morning just to find “nappies” for her baby which, according to her, are difficult to find.

As the short documentary goes on to explain, often times the long food lines and the scarcity of food cause all-out riots, which is why law enforcement now stands guard outside of grocery stores.

Unsurprisingly, the physical conditions of Venezuela are poor as well. Trash lines the sidewalks of most of the country’s neighborhoods, and the roads are cracked and littered with potholes. This is especially true for the very top of the hills, where the poorest of Venezuelans live. As Campbell notes, taxis don’t even travel up that way. Instead, communal buses and motorbikes are used to get from place to place.

Venezuela didn’t get this way overnight. The long food lines, the poverty and the economic dislocation has really been brought about by the election of Hugo Chavez in 1998. Once in power, Chavez did away with the existing congress and replaced it with a new National Assembly, which he then used to rewrite the country’s constitution in order to consolidate his power. Though Chavez thought of himself as a successful and enlightened world leader, his actions as president proved otherwise. For example, Chavez essentially launched an all out war on the private sector by nationalizing thousands of private companies and industries, which as history tells us, does nothing to stimulate the economy. By contrast, excessive government regulation over the economy initiates an economic death spiral.

Years of these kinds of policies are what eventually turned Venezuela into what it is today – a chaotic, poverty-ridden society whereby government officials live like kings and the people, quite literally, live and eat in trash. Americans should look at the conditions in socialist Venezuela and learn from them, because if we continue going down a path of progressivism, social engineering and big government, our society will one day look similar, if not identical, to Venezuela’s.

Infants are now starving to death in socialist Venezuela /starvationnews/2017-02-07-infants-are-now-starving-to-death-in-socialist-venezuela.html Tue, 07 Feb 2017 17:49:32 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2017-02-07-infants-are-now-starving-to-death-in-socialist-venezuela.html Venezuela has a child malnourishment problem. Kids are fainting in classrooms and dying from hunger. Common images of Venezuelan children show how unhealthy and slim they are. Food shortages are causing major problems. Physicians are seeing cases they haven’t witnessed in nearly 40 years, including the fatal malnutrition condition known as marasmus.

Children are showing up at hospitals with swollen heads and bellies. Some are so skinny that their skin is stuck to their bones. The vice president of the Assembly’s Health Committee acknowledged that twenty percent of Venezuelan children are suffering from malnutrition, and area hospitals have seen a surge in severe malnutrition cases.

Ninety percent of Venezuelan households don’t have the proper resources to follow a healthy diet. The country is subject to hyperinflation, which adds to the problem. Statistics show basic food costs just over 45 dollars per month per person, but the minimum monthly salary only equates to one-third of that cost or 15 dollars. (RELATED: Find more news about economic collapse at Collapse.news)

The overwhelming majority of Venezuela’s population eats less than twice daily. Venezuela’s economic crisis descended into a depression last year when oil prices plummeted. Venezuela is home to one of the world’s biggest oil reserves, but now they are having difficulty importing the required $500 million monthly for food.

Venezuela is showing major signs of poverty and the crisis is highly affecting its youth. The government refuses to release economic and public health data which would show just how bad things have become. The food shortage is widespread and compounded by a medical shortage, which has put the public-health system in a serious predicament. Venezuela is missing 85 percent of the necessary medications to treat conditions such as malaria and dengue.

The first reported malnourishment death of 2017 in Venezuela claimed a seven-month-old girl. She had spots on her skin, indicating severe malnourishment and a lack of vitamins. One of her eyes reportedly became detached from her eye socket upon death.

Citizens recently interrupted a broadcasted speech given by President Nicolas Maduro, chanting that they wanted food. The Venezuelan President responded, “Do not ask me for food.” Maduro proceeded to differ that responsibility to General Vladimir Padrino Lopez and told citizens to ask him instead. Starvation Mode: Why it Might Be a Myth /starvationnews/2016-09-19-starvation-mode-why-it-might-be-a-myth.html Mon, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2016-09-19-starvation-mode-why-it-might-be-a-myth.html If you eat healthy, count every calorie, keep track of your nutrients, and work out day in and day out, then you’re probably expecting your body to get lean and strong in no time. So, if you find yourself hitting a weight-loss plateau without cheating on your diet or slacking on your exercise routine, you may assume you’ve hit starvation mode. This phenomenon, according to Livestrong, affects anyone who eats below their recommended daily caloric intake and makes weight loss nearly impossible. But is there any truth to this claim? It’s time to dispel myth from reality.

Article by Lauren Weiler

First, it’s important to take a look at what exactly starvation mode is supposed to look like. Authority Nutritionexplains that essentially, starvation mode is damage done to your metabolism through restricting calories for a prolonged period of time. When this happens, your metabolism slows down significantly because your body is trying to maintain the proper amounts of energy and fat needed for survival.  No matter how few calories you eat in a day, your body is powerful enough to stop the weight loss process because of your brain and metabolism entering what is known as starvation mode.

Slender

This is what starvation mode in dieting is said to be — a complete halt in weight loss when you’ve gone too far with your extreme dieting. Here’s the truth: While your body will have a response to cutting calories, it won’t be strong enough to completely prevent you from losing weight.

In truth, The Washington Post explains metabolism will slow when you’re cutting calories. This is your body’s natural response to a significant change in your diet and your routine, but this doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, this slowing of your metabolic rate doesn’t even happen within the first six to eight months of extreme dieting, which is when most people find that they hit their first plateau and look toward starvation mode as a reason. It takes years and years of severe calorie restriction for your metabolism to completely offset a reduction in calories.

The idea that you won’t lose weight when your caloric intake is too restricted is completely dispelled when looking at The Minnesota Starvation Experiment outlined by the American Psychological Association. In World War II, men were worked to physical extremes and were given less than 1,600 calories to eat a day, resulting in extreme hunger, gaunt bodies, and malnutrition. They were rehabilitated back to full health by being fed a proper number calories, but nowhere in this study did they find the men stopped losing weight because they were eating too little. In fact, all of the participants lost about 25% of their body weight.

If you’re at the point in your diet where you’re unable to lose weight further, A Workout Routine suggests this may be because your body simply isn’t burning as many calories as it did when you weighed more. When your body weight decreases, you burn fewer calories in general, meaning the diet that worked for you when you were 50 pounds heavier may not be working so well for you anymore.

You also may think you’re eating the same exact diet that you were a few months earlier when you first started, but take a closer look. Have you allowed any unhealthy foods to sneak into your diet that may be sabotaging your weight loss? Keeping track of each food you eat every day is a good way to know if something like this is happening without your noticing it.

So, while starvation mode may not really be what’s keeping you from losing weight, there is some truth to the idea. Your metabolic rate will slow when you go to extremes with calorie restriction. However, this metabolic slow-down is not enough to completely halt weight-loss progress, and it happens very slowly Restricting calories may also cause you to feel intensely hungry and crave foods you ordinarily wouldn’t, and you may even feel like you’re mentally slowing down. It’s important to always listen to your body and to eat health-conscious meals packed with vitamins, healthy fats, and fresh produce to maintain your desired weight.

Going hungry for weight loss is never the answer, and a diet that strict likely won’t last long, either. While starvation mode is largely a myth, you’ll feel and look your best when you’re eating plenty of nutritious meals.

Economic collapse in the USA to cause 25 – 50 million deaths in the first 90 days… from starvation, rioting, murder and more /starvationnews/2016-06-10-economic-collapse-in-the-usa-to-cause-25-50-million-dead-in-the-first-90-days-from-starvation-rioting-murder-and-more.html Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:15:42 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2016-06-10-economic-collapse-in-the-usa-to-cause-25-50-million-dead-in-the-first-90-days-from-starvation-rioting-murder-and-more.html The United States, as the world’s preeminent economic and military power, is also, in many ways, the world’s most vulnerable society, for most of our citizens have grown accustomed to a higher standard of living than almost most every other nation.

And this soft underbelly of society would be exposed in a dramatic – and deadly – way if a cataclysmic event were to occur, say a massive economic collapse.

In fact, notes “V, the Guerrilla Economist” in an interview with radio host Greg Hunter of USA Watchdog, that is probably the most likeliest of disaster scenarios facing the United States as we prepare to transition out of the chaotic Obama years.

Already China and other nations are positioning their currencies to rise with the fall of the petrodollar, the latter of which is based primarily on U.S. military hegemony the world over. But that is an empire of illusion that cannot sustain itself forever, and in fact is now being threatened by other great powers’ aggressiveness on the world stage. If the dollar were to somehow lose its status as the world’s reserve currency, being replaced by a basket of other currencies that may generally favor regional alliances millions of Americans who have yet to position themselves financially for such a downturn are going to suffer immensely.

In his interview, “V” says he was having a recent conversation with “seven of the smartest guys” in the country, to include financial, military and foreign affairs experts, and he posed the question to them: What does an economic collapse in the U.S. look like?

“The initial answer that all of them were unanimous in telling me, ‘You can expect anywhere between 25 and 50 million dead in the first 90 days.’ I almost fell off my chair when I heard that, and I said ‘what do you mean?’ They said, ‘V, it’s real simple. You’ll have people dropping dead from violence, looting, rioting, right? You’ll have people dropping dead from lack of medication because we’re the most medicated country on the planet. You’ll see people drop dead from starvation, dehydration and disease.’”

He went onto single out the major urban population centers in the U.S. such as New York City, home to 8 million people – city centers that, as reported by Bugout.news, depend on a food supply chain that is extremely fragile and highly vulnerable to any disruption.

BugOut.News reported:

“’I for the life of me cannot understand why the terrorists have not, you know, attacked our food supply, because it is so easy to do,’ former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson once observed, the site reported. In addition, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has also observed, ‘In the war on terrorism, the fields and pastures of America’s farmland might seem at first to have nothing in common with the towers of the World Trade Center or busy seaports. In fact, however, they are merely different manifestations of the same high priority target, the American economy.’”

As for the other conditions mentioned by the experts V consulted – lack of preparedness, disruption of the medical chain, rioting – these, too, would also worsen by the day.

“You’re not going to be able to go to the supermarket” for anything, he warned, the gas stations will be empty, the power grid will fail, and the misery and death toll will spread.

As to his personal plan of action, V says he wants to leave the country and wants to do so – where he’ll be “sitting on a beach” – before 2017.

No one knows when a collapse will occur or what will ultimately trigger it, but it is hard to imagine a time in recent history, save for the period before World War II, when the globe was as unsettled and frenetic as it is now.

Near total collapse of Venezuela reveals what happens when Big Government controls the prices and supplies of food: STARVATION! /starvationnews/2016-06-07-near-total-collapse-of-venezuela-reveals-what-happens-when-big-government-controls-the-prices-and-supplies-of-food-starvation.html Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:44:32 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/starvationnews/2016-06-07-near-total-collapse-of-venezuela-reveals-what-happens-when-big-government-controls-the-prices-and-supplies-of-food-starvation.html Venezuelans are facing tumultuous times. Inflation rates are running at 700%. Standing in line for hours and hours, and risking one’s life, to buy what ever staple of food that might be available is the norm. The lack of minerals, vitamins and robust nutrition in food shortages could mean starvation for the weakest in society. These dire circumstances didn’t happen overnight, and there are multiple forces at work.

Food seemed aplenty during the Chavez Agrarian revolution in 1999, but the oil profits used to fund that movement have greatly diminished.

According to Business Insider, “Government supporters have long pointed proudly to the improvement in eating under socialist leader Hugo Chavez, who used oil income to subsidize food for the poor during his 14 years in office (1999 to 2013) and won UN plaudits for it.

“But Reuters notes that [President Nicolas] Maduro, Chavez’s successor, has faced a collapse in the price of oil, which provides almost all of Venezuela’s foreign income…  According to a recent study, 87% of Venezuelans say their income is now insufficient to purchase their food needs. Shoppers routinely spend hours in lines to buy staples such as corn flour and laundry soap, turning lines into sites of shoving matches and now more frequent attempts to plunder shops.”

‘Control oil and you control the nations; control food and you control the people.’ This quote is attributed to Henry Kissinger.

President Maduro declared an economic emergency in January, opening the door to more government control of private enterprise. These actions come after years of long lines and shortages, as reported by Activistpost.com.

“In 2013, many began to suspect that the outlook for Venezuela was grim when prepping became illegal. The Attorney General of Venezuela, Luisa Ortega Díaz, called on prosecutors to target people who are ‘hoarding’ basic staples with serious sanctions.

“Shortly thereafter, grocery stores instituted a fingerprint registry to purchase food and supplies. Families had to register and were allotted a certain amount of supplies to prevent ‘hoarding’ … Thousands of people were standing in line for 5-6 hours in the hopes that they would be able to purchase a few much-needed items.

“[Additionally,] farmers in Venezuela were forced to hand over their crops last summer. [Madur’s government] assumed control of essential goods like food, and began putting retail outlets out of business. Then, once they had control of the sales outlets, they began forcing farmers and food manufacturers to sell anywhere from 30 – 100% of their products to the state at the price the state opted to pay, as opposed to stores and supermarkets.”

In the midst of this grave darkness, there remains a light of profound victory.

The late President Hugo Chavez’s strides to create a national policy of food sovereignty with agroecological methods was not without critical gains. And even in the midst of this crisis, one critical gain remains: the 2004 law banning transgenic (genetically modified) seeds. This remains a tremendous victory that still stands, although those who push GMOs are anxious to swoop into Venezuela and “save it from starvation.”

Global Justice reports, “Venezuela’s step [banning GMOs] is hugely impressive, first because of the food shortages the country is undergoing – a result of deep dependency on the international market and destabilisation efforts coming from inside and outside the country. One commentator points out ‘Venezuelans are not being fooled by promises of a quick fix to increase food production.'”

You may have experienced empty grocery store racks during a extended weather event. But make no mistake. Food sovereignty is not ultimately the responsibility of your government or your local grocer. What is happening in Venezuela could happen in America.

Christopher Sefton and Lori Lloyd had subjected Sefton’s son to both physical and psychological abuse. At home, they had often deprived the child of sleep, and forced him to do calisthenics.

The child was often fed hot dog smoothies mixed with vegetable oil, and teachers at school had found the emaciated child looking through the trash-cans for food.

Sefton had described the child as a ‘demon’ to school workers, and the couple had exchanged texts on how they abused the child.

“They were using food to torture him,” said senior prosecutor Cecelia Gregson, the Seattle PI reports. “It has the added benefit of trying to kill him, but it was a very effective form of torture.”

Help finally arrived in March of 2014, when the boy had to be taken to the hospital after Sefton gave the boy a beating for not tying his shoelaces properly, which caused him to shake uncontrollably.

At the hospital, they found that the boy had a swollen belly—a symptom of malnutrition—and swollen joints.

The boy told investigators that his parents sometimes forced him to do push ups while wearing a backpack filled with canned food.

Staffers at school tried to feed the child, who was losing weight, but his parents told them not to, and referenced “dietary restrictions.”

Even when food aid is sent to troubled nations, it’s all confiscated by the regime in power, then sold on the black market while the people starve.

If you want to help starving people, bring them LIBERTY and democracy first, then food abundance will follow!
